About Osteopathy Maarten de Boer

In the meantime, Maarten worked as an Exercise Scientist and Clinical Exercise Physiologist in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation centre. Maarten also teaches Biomechanics and Methodology at the full-time Osteopathy course and Head of Research at the College Sutherland in Amsterdam. His thesis is on the relationship between abdominal complaints and the psyche. The relationship between abdominal complaints and their relation to the musculoskeletal system and brain is an important focus of treatment.

Besides treating general complaints, as an avid athlete and from his background as an Exercise Scientist and Exercise Physiologist, he is specifically interested in complaints in (endurance) athletes. In addition, Maarten completed the two-year training in osteopathy for children and babies. Recently, Maarten has been studying the important influence of breathing patterns on persistent symptoms. To this end, he recently completed the Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathing Coach training. He recognises that functional breathing is at the root of health and combines this with his osteopathic approach.

Maarten lives with his wife in Valencia and in his spare time he enjoys sports. He does the occasional triathlon, enjoys road and gravel biking, occasional rock hanging and generally enjoys being outdoors for camping, hiking or cycling and preferably a combination of these.
